Families in need from Eastern Europe have been given gifts and essentials from Dame Bradbury's school pupils after they filled 80 shoeboxes for charity.

Dame B's pupils collected shower gels, shampoos, family games, stationery, hats, toys and more to be packed into shoeboxes for Link to Hope's Family and Elderly Shoebox Appeal.

Link to Hope is a Christian charity who believe in distributing love to those in need regardless of background, colour, creed or religion and they aim to combat poverty and give humanitarian aid.

As part of the appeal, Dame B's shoeboxes will now be sent to families and elderly residents of countries including Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine.

Tracy Handford, head of Dame Bradbury's said: "Putting together the shoeboxes is such a simple idea but it is a wonderful opportunity for our children to take pride in their ability and enthusiasm to help others."
