Find out more about our approach to homework.

Students in Years 7 – 9 receive a homework timetable showing the time allocation for each subject and the days of the week on which it is set.

Students in Years 10 and 11 do not have a homework timetable but are expected to do up to an average of one hour’s homework per week for each GCSE subject.

Transition in Year 7

To ease the transition to the new routines and environment of the Senior School, Year 7 students initially receive no homework; this is phased in gradually until they receive the timetabled allocation later in the Autumn Term.

Planning

Homework is set using Google Classroom, which enables students to monitor their work and deadlines. Students will receive guidance on study skills through PSHE and in subject lessons.

We encourage students to work effectively and to the best of their ability. However, we also recognise the inherent possibility that highly motivated students who enjoy learning may, through their efforts to succeed, put themselves under unreasonable pressure to exceed the recommended homework allocation. Therefore, we greatly appreciate your support in reinforcing the need for a sensible and balanced approach to homework.
