SPF teacher to be face of science teaching scholarships

Published on 22/02/18

Alison Maguire is selected to be part of the Royal Society of Chemistry's next campaign to attract and train new science teachers.

Every year, the Royal Society of Chemistry fund 140 people to train as teachers through Teacher Training Scholarships, in partnership with the Department of Education, often helping experienced scientists retrain as teachers.

Alison Maguire is one of their recent scholars, and started teaching science at the Stephen Perse Foundation this year. She has now been chosen as one of the faces for the RSC's next Teacher Training Scholarship campaign.

Before joining the SPF teaching community, Alison graduated from Trinity Hall Cambridge in Natural Sciences before getting her doctorate and then working for a number of years at the Department of Medicine at Cambridge University.

We are very proud that Alison is now a part of this important campaign, helping to bring other knowledgeable scientists like herself into classrooms, to inspire and guide the next generation.
