Dr Rowan Williams to speak at the Stephen Perse Foundation

Published on 01/02/18

Dr Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, will give an evening talk on religion and democracy for our students, staff and parents.

On Monday 19 February, the Stephen Perse Foundation are extremely excited to welcome Dr Rowan Williams for an evening lecture and Q & A session. The former Archbishop of Canterbury and now Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge will be giving a talk under the theme of 'Religion and Democracy' in our current world. The talk is a ticketed event which is now full with a waiting list! It is open to students and parents of the Foundation and is part of our wider 'Inspire me' lecture series.

Some of our 6th Form students have been lucky enough to meet Dr Rowan Williams already and hear him speak at an event organised by the Inspire Dialogue Foundation through SPF.

I am looking forward to asking Dr Rowan Williams his views on the increase of atheism and the fall of Christianity around the world and what that means for the future of theology and ethics.

Dan, 6th Form student

It was really inspiring to meet Dr Rowan Williams at the ‘Inspire Dialogue’ event where we talked about how important it is for people from different faiths and cultures to meet and discuss education. The topic ‘religion and democracy’ is already a fascinating subject, I am really looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the debate, especially as he is the former Archbishop of Canterbury.

Katie, 6th Form student

We are looking forward to hearing Dr Rowan Williams share his thoughts with us all at the Stephen Perse Foundation and we're sure the event will prove hugely valuable to our Religious Studies students in particular. Do keep an eye out for more information as well as photos in due course.
