Year 5 & 6 Performers Platform concert

Published on 27/02/20

A number of Year 5 and 6 students impressed staff, family and friends again with fantastic solo performances in our recent Performers’ Platform concert on Wednesday 12 February.

The programme was thoroughly enjoyable to listen to, with a wide range of instruments played and an even more electric selection of pieces and genres heard. We listened to several classical piano performances where students had memorised their music, alongside the jazzy ‘Music for the Beatles’ tune performed by one of our saxophonists. Our percussionist had the audience quietly singing along to ‘Billy Jean’, whilst several pieces such as ‘The Witch’s Lair’ and ‘Cops and Robbers’ conjured up all kinds of lovely imagery whilst we listened.

It was wonderful to see the performers eagerly honing in to listen to others performing on ‘their instrument’, and the supportive atmosphere maintained throughout the entire event. Performers’ Platforms always provide a wonderful opportunity for us to gain an insight into what the students are diligently working on in their instrumental lessons, and it is impressive to see the students’ progression as they continue to perform in these concerts throughout their time at the Foundation - continuing to grow both in musical skill and confidence.

As always, I am amazed at the talent and dedication of the students at Rosedale House, and what a fantastic way to recognise and appreciate this - thank you all for your wonderful performances!
