SPF Junior School and Dame Bradbury's compete in the East Area Prep Schools Championships

Both SPF Junior School and Dame Bradbury's entered teams in the East Area Prep Schools Championships. An exciting day with some exhilarating races!

Junior School

We took a small but talented contingent of students to the EAPS Athletics Championships at Bedford International Stadium, this was the first time that we had entered these championships and the students exceeded expectations. The level of competition was extremely high but The Stephen Perse students rose to the challenge. The Junior school team consisting of Isabella, Millie, Orla, Verity, Juliette, Jaylan, Martin, Sammy and Pi did themselves proud.

Notable performances came from Verity who came 4th in the 1500 metres. This is even more outstanding considering that Verity is only in Year 5 and can compete in the same event next year. Juliette produced a fine round of jumping to finish 6th in the high jump and Sam demonstrated some gusty hurdling to narrowly miss out on a place in the final.

Dame Bradbury's

On Friday 8th June, the U11 Athletics team travelled to Bedford to compete in the East Area Prep Schools Athletics. This was the first time for a number of years we were able to attend and all of the pupils were very excited. With some fantastic athletes in action our team performed well and found the event to be a valuable learning experience.

Highlights from the afternoon were Daisy’s 5th placed finish in the 1500m and the Year 6 girls relay team qualifying for the final . With this event due to become a permanent fixture in our calendar, we have all learnt a lot and had a great day in the sunshine!
