Year 12 collaborate with Cambridge University Engineering Department

Published on 19/10/18

Year 12 students took on challenges at the Engineering Education Scheme (EES) Launch event.

Four students from our Lower Sixth went to the Cambridge University Engineering Department for the Launch event of the EES to meet their mentor and to learn more about this sixth month STEM project. The team are hoping to develop a sustainable energy project with the help of engineers from ARM and they will attend a two day workshop to build their prototypes in December. The project finishes at the end of April when the students present their project to a team of assessors and to the general public. During this launch event the students were given a very challenging task to build a roller coaster using just a few pieces of card and some tape! The roller coaster car, (a marble) needed to be rolling and to stay on the structure for as long as possible.
