TIST founder talks to Year 6 about sustainable agriculture

Published on 05/12/19

On 15 November, Year 6 were joined by Ben Henneke, co-founder of TIST and his colleagues telling us how Kenyan farmers are leading the way in the tree planting program.

Certain areas discussed were the benefits of trees, sustainable agriculture,  the carbon market and how companies are reducing their carbon footprint by planting trees. The children also learnt how the company uses technology, including using GPS and smart phones to record exact coordinates and quantify the trees to make the process transparent and accountable. It was enlightening for the children to discover how TIST addresses all 17 of the United Nations sustainable development goals. Thank you to parent, Mrs Martin, for organising this valuable visit, which raised and answered lots of interesting questions for our pupils.
