Students who take the International Baccalaureate (IB) at the Stephen Perse Sixth Form have achieved this year an average score of 39.9 points. Once again, these results place the school in the top group of IB schools both in the UK and worldwide.

This year’s results show that 58% of students achieved 40 points or more overall. Over a third of Stephen Perse students achieved an overall 40 points or more with one student achieving a perfect score of 45 points.

IB subjects are graded on a 1-7 scale with 7 being the highest score; 49% of all grades were awarded Level 7 and 86% of all subjects were graded Level 6 or 7.

These results will allow Stephen Perse Sixth Form students to study a wide range of courses across the world including Dentistry in Poland, Medicine at University College London, Modern Languages at Durham University, Engineering in Germany and Law at Bristol University.

Students in the Stephen Perse Sixth Form are offered the choice of taking A Levels or the IB. Last year the IB Diploma was offered in over 2900 schools across 144 countries and this number continues to grow as there is broad recognition by universities worldwide that IB programmes develop academic independence, giving breadth of skills and knowledge fit for the 21st century. Stephen Perse students choose to take the IB for its inquiring and critical thinking approach in a global context.

Spencer Pinkus, Head of Sixth Form at Stephen Perse said: “We are immensely proud of our IB students, not only for their results, university destinations and range of courses they have chosen, but for their development as young leaders with broad interests and skills.  The IB provides a unique perspective on the world preparing students for success in our rapidly changing world with all its challenges.”
