Published on 26/10/21

Cyclocross is a mix of athletic endeavours, combining riding and running over a mixed course which could include tarmac, mud, sand, steps and barriers. Races typically last between 30 mins and one hour and the course is set out in laps.

Year 11 student Florence has recently restarted competitive cycling, taking part in her first Cyclocross race since the pandemic started she won the U16 girls’ race with a lead of nearly a minute (over a 30 minute race).

Year 13 student Bethany also won her first Cyclocross race of the season which was then followed by a trip to Lancaster for her first ever U23 National Trophy event where she came 11th. This was an incredible performance competing against elite woman and just half a wheel outside a top ten place in the final sprint finish.

Well done Florence and Bethany we are very proud of you!
