“As frequent water users, especially in the Trearddur Bay area, our club is incredibly appreciative of the work the RNLI does to protect and support those using the water” says Kira. “It’s incredibly reassuring knowing such an incredible service would be available to us if we ever needed it. Whilst as a club we endeavour to dive safely, by completing in depth risk assessments, unfortunately sometimes even the most stringent planning cannot prevent an incident. The work of the RNLI is truly vital, and we want to support them in whatever way is possible”

With over 60 active members, LUSAC is one of the most active university dive clubs in the UK. They are a student-led dive club who provide a wide range of training and diving opportunities to its members, whether they are total novices or experienced divers. Much like the RNLI, they rely entirely on the work of volunteers to run and instruct the club, and so understand better than many the importance of active fundraising.

Having existed for over 50 years, Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station is a pillar of the local community, saving dozens of lives a year. Beach goers and water users of all types rely on the work of the station’s volunteer crewmembers in case the very worst should happen to them. They provide a truly essential service, and yet the RNLI receive no government funding - they are kept afloat purely by donations.

The event, happening on the 9th of May, will run from 9am to 9pm. During this time, 24 divers will spend time underwater, photographing the resident wildlife, picking litter, and even completing dive management and experience lessons towards their next qualifications.
