The Senior School and Sixth Form Sports Department is dedicated to an ethos of inclusivity, ensuring that every pupil has the chance of representing the school in competitive fixtures. Our varied curriculum is designed to instil a lifelong love of physical activity, prioritising both physical health and mental wellbeing.
Through expert coaching by specialist teachers, students are supported to realise their full potential. On-site, we boast a sports hall and fitness gym, with astro, tennis and netball courts just a short walk away. Additionally, we utilise excellent surrounding local amenities, including the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre, Fenners indoor cricket nets, and Wilberforce Road athletics track and hockey pitches to provide a comprehensive sporting experience for all.

Every lesson and training session is delivered by qualified subject specialists. This ensures that students receive the highest standard of coaching regardless of their ability level.
We champion a truly non-selective approach to our co-curricular programme. Our clubs are open to everyone, fostering an environment where participation is valued as highly as performance, ensuring every student feels welcome to play.

We offer expert netball coaching sessions from the Super League team London Mavericks. Individually we have players accepted on to not only the London Mavericks performance pathway, but also London Pulse from the Super League.
As a team we are achieving great things, with our U16 Girls winning the County Championships for the past two seasons.

Our U14 and U15 boys both won the County Championships, and will play nationally this year. Our girls' teams are also competing at a high county standard, becoming U13 runners-up in 2024. Individually, our players have achieved success, with some progressing on to the Cambridgeshire Emerging Players Program.

We offer football for girls and boys and are achieving fantastic team results, with our U15 girls winning the ISFA National Shield in 2025. Our footballers take advantage of the great tours we offer. A recent trip to Spain allowed the opportunity to train with FC Barcelona and Espanyol, and do a tour and watch a game at the Nou Camp.

Our girls and boys hockey teams are some of the best in the country. Our U14, U16 and U18 girls teams have all won the county championship in recent seasons, as well as the U16s winning the regional title and coming 3rd nationally. Our U14 and U16 boys have also both had great success as county runners-up.

While we pride ourselves on having large numbers attending clubs, we are equally committed to pushing the elite.
We support our elite athletes, offering the focused coaching required to compete at the highest levels.
Our students excel in a variety of sports, from archery to martial arts, and our alumni includes Olympic gold medallists in rowing and modern pentathlon!
We believe the benefits of sports travel – camaraderie, culture, and competition, should be accessible to all. Our sports tours are fully inclusive, ensuring that any student committed to our clubs has the opportunity to travel, not just the 'A' teams.

We believe physical activity plays a vital role in a child's development. For children aged 4-7, one lesson a week is dedicated to developing essential skills such as strength, discipline, coordination and balance, with another introducing the fundamentals of team sports through outdoor games. From age 8 onwards, children benefit from an expanded sports curriculum, utilising top-notch city facilities in addition to our own superb Latham Close Sports Ground, including swimming at Parkside Pools, football at Gonville & Caius, and athletics at the University Sports Ground.

As a school which adores sport, we challenge and thrive against the best local schools competition and are very active locally as part of the Uttlesford Sports Partnership, engaging in athletics, tennis, cross-country, dance and swimming events. There are opportunities to shine, but equally to take part and enjoy all that sport has to offer. We believe physical activity plays a vital role in a child's development, and our sports programme nurtures a love of movement, teamwork, and healthy competition. We have superb facilities, including a sports hall, MUGA, astro pitch and sports field.
